Oiselle and Snohomish Running Company Partner to Launch
The Tenacious Ten 10K / 10 Mile Race in Seattle
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 14, 2016
Snohomish Running Company (SRC) is excited to announce its partnership with Oiselle, the growing Seattle-based apparel company, for The Tenacious Ten 10K / 10 Mile race presented by Oiselle. The race will begin at Gas Works Park on Saturday, April 22, 2017, and not only introduces a new partnership between two well-loved local companies, but also introduces a new 10-mile race distance not currently common in the Seattle race community.
SRC, established in 2010 and now the largest race production company in Snohomish County, provides premium running events to runners of all abilities, competitive and non-competitive, building a family-like community amongst participants. Grant Harrington, founder and President of SRC says these ideals are important when thinking about the new race to ensure consistency with its other 10 races, like the Snohomish River Run, the Snohomish Women’s Run, and the Everett Half.
“We see it at every race. Participants who attend many of our races and build connections and friendships through running in our events. It’s important to us. Everyone has a story as to why they started running, and while our goal is to provide a premium running experience, it’s much more than that. When thinking about this new race, we wanted a sponsor partner that embodies our same desire to create connections and community. A partner that is as excited as we are to support runners and participate in an event that promotes encouragement, inclusiveness, fun, and healthy living. We immediately thought of Oiselle as the perfect partner. This race will be for everyone – men and women, competitive, beginners, everyone,” says Harrington.
Oiselle, a growing Seattle-based women’s athletic apparel company founded in 2007, is most recently noted for opening their flagship store at University Village, as well as sponsoring Olympians Kara Goucher and Kate Grace. Oiselle’s “head up, wings out” mantra of encouragement, community, and confidence complements SRC’s similar ethos. Oiselle and SRC are excited to elevate the 10-miler, a race distance not common in the local race community, and pair it with the familiar 10K on a landmark course.
“Since day one, Oiselle has been about running and racing. So to have the chance to sponsor a premiere race in our hometown is incredibly exciting. And we like to think a ‘tenacious’ themed event is perfect for Seattle. We are a hearty, outdoorsy, fun and fierce community. The race will welcome everyone, every pace, getting tenacious from start to finish,” says Sally Bergensen, Oiselle Founder and CEO.
Many in the community who are familiar with both SRC and Oiselle are also excited to see the new venture. Andrea Hallberg, Oiselle team runner and SRC ambassador says, “After being involved as an ambassador with both Oiselle and SRC for four years, I am so excited that they are joining forces! They are two companies that are hugely supportive of the Seattle running community and I can’t wait to FINALLY run a 10 miler. It’s about time we got some traction with that race distance!”
